Skyros
The Greek island of Skyros is part of the Sporades archipelago. The island is 208 km2 and has about 3,000 inhabitants. In Greek history it is told that Achilles hid at Skyros. Disguised as a woman, he lived among King Likud’s daughters. He left Skyros when he was summoned to the siege of Troy.
During the First World War, Tris Boukes Bay on the southwestern part of the island was used as a harbor for hospital ships.
