Melina World started with the desire to offer a small piece of Greece. Genuine Greek quality craftsmanship, to all who came to enjoy life, at the foot of the Acropolis. A small memory from the cradle of civilization.
It quickly became a success. Today Melina World designs are available all over Greece. For example on the islands of Santorini, Rhodes, Corfu, Kos, Crete, Mykonos, Mytilini & Naxos.
The mission of Melina World is to bring our customers, a little piece of Greece home. We bring the history and culture of the past into the present, with handmade jewellery for both men and women. The idea of recreating old works of art as well as historical motifs and symbols, so that they can be worn as jewellery, is an idea Melina World has worked with from the beginning.
However, the idea of designing small designs that are put together piece by piece for a necklace or bracelet is not ours. It is a more than 5,000-year-old Greek tradition.
Crafts in precious metals and glass have existed as long as we have known about these materials. Melina World’s workshop is located in Athens, Greece. Here, our silversmiths design and manufacture all their jewellery, from the neat drawing to the final result. It has been a decision from the very beginning that Melina World will retain all production at all levels, from purchasing materials to design, production and sales, within a European framework.
Our glass is quality glass, which we buy in long bars from the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. We buy our silver in Greece and we constantly test the quality. Our finished designs are a minimum of 925 Sterling Silver, which means that a minimum of 92.5% is pure silver, the last part being a blended product, primarily copper. We only work in Swiss gold, which is internationally recognized. Our leather is from Italy and our pearls are from Mallorca.
We design all our exhibition furniture as well as display cabinets so that they are adapted to our stores and the trade shows, where we are represented. We have a carpenter who is affiliated with Melina World’s workshop in Athens. We have chosen that all our furniture is made of wood and not plastic. All PR and packaging for the jewellery are manufactured in Denmark or Greece, under environmentally friendly conditions.
“Melina” is the registered trademark and guarantees the originality of the jewellery.
“Ω47” is Melina World’s registered jewellery stamp.
“925” is the percentage of pure silver in the jewellery.
