Description
This bead is designed with the classic meander motif. Meanders are common decorative elements in Greek and Roman art. In ancient Greece, they appear in many architectural friezes, and in bands on the pottery of ancient Greece and onwards. The design is common to the present-day in classicizing architecture. The Meander name probably comes from “Meander River” in Asia Minor, which flowed out into the Aegean Sea at the ancient city of Ephesus. The pattern symbolized the rivers many twists and turns.
