Description

It is often said that the tiger is bigger than the lion, but it is in fact only the Siberian tiger that gains the lion in size. The lion is larger than all other tiger subspecies, and actually the female lion is bigger than any tigress. Record a male lion is 272 kg – that’s over three times more than a normal adult male. The lion is the laziest animal on the African savannah – it lies down and relaxes more than 20 hours a day. But when it wakes up again, it is, in turn, the most dangerous predator on the savannah. Lions hunt in packs and can impose prey that weighs as much as a car, for example, buffalo, giraffe and even young rhinoceros and hippopotamus. Males may well chase and females are often let to obtain the food at the table. When the females then seek prey, males may find to chase them away and even take care of the dishes.
