Description

Hippocrates was a Greek physician born in Kos. He is considered the father of medical arts. The emblem of Hippocrates – the crescent stick – is named after the physician god Asklepios. The wand is surrounded by a snake which symbolizes the life-renewing power because it can cause harm. The rod with the two snakes is nowadays used as a symbol in medical science and is an interpretation of the original Ash-stick rod.
