Buddhism is a religion or philosophy based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama believed to have lived between 563 BC and approx. 483 BC in India. The great Greek conqueror Alexander the Great, found his way there in 327 BC, Having subdued Syria, Egypt, and Persia, he next marched to invade the unknown land of gold: India. The part of India which Alexander invaded is called the Punjab, or land of the five rivers. He was eager to reach the holy river Ganges and conquer the people there. But he had grown weary of the hardships of the way, weary of the fighting under the burning sun & torrent rains of India, and they begged him to go no further. So, Greatly against his will, Alexander turned back
